Our 7 year wedding anniversary is coming up next month and I still remember what our cake tastes like when I think back on that day. It was the most beautiful, luxurious, decadent cake I have ever tasted. It's expensive but it's SO worth it. You can't go wrong with these guys. I still to this day can't describe in mear words how much we loved our wedding cake. Cheers!

Pros: Everything!

Cons: Nothing!

My landlord and her mother work for a catering company for corporate events worldwide, and after tasting my husband and I's wedding cake at the reception they both commented on it being the best cake they've ever tasted! Buttercream does not charge more for 2 flavors in one cake; we managed to pick out two of our favorite flavors and have two tiers of one and one tier of the other. What a bonus.

Pros: Free parking, friendly staff, wide catalogue of options, free samples of the most popular flavors, free sample of their truffles

I would like to think of myself as a cake coinsurer, I have been to about every bakery and sweet shop in the Twin Cities searching for the best cake. Although Buttercream Collection was not on my radar, until I attended a family friends wedding and there it was the BEST CAKE I have ever tasted. It was the Bailey’s chocolate a rich chocolate cake with a touch of Bailey’s Irish Cream, and the buzz this cake created was like no other. Shortly, after the wedding I had a small party at my house and ordered the Bailey’s for my quests. Although I first told them I made it myself the truth can out. The staff was helpful and friendly, the quality is always great. I have found my bakery!

Pros: 30+ Flavors

Buttercream created a wonderful cake for my daughter’s birthday party. The kids love the Cookie n’Cream. We now call them for all of our cake needs and always try a new flavor. I haven’t found a bad flavor yet. Two thumbs up.

Pros: Flavor selections

Cons: I can't eat it every day

My wedding cake was one of the most important accepts of my wedding, so I had to go to the best. Buttercream’s staff is knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and not only delivered the most beautiful cake, the best tasting too. P.S. I was looking for a different party favors so I ordered truffles in boxes from Buttercream and they were as big of a smash as the cake. (I just wished they would there was one left over for me)

Pros: Flavor selection, staff, quality

Cons: I'm only getting married once!

If you are planning on buying your wedding cake here be prepared for some of the most delicious cake you've ever had. The pastor that married us said he had officiated 637 weddings and been to just as many receptions and ours was the most wonderful cake he had ever tasted. All my guests went on and on about it. We had the tiramisu with white cake. WOW. If they're delivering it to the reception site MAKE SURE you tell them you want cake boxes or they won't leave any. My husband and I are ordering the same cake for our friends’ birthday this weekend. 29.00 and feeds 12 but it's well worth it. good luck!!

Pros: staff, flavor, price

Cons: location

We were introduced to Buttercream via word of mouth for our wedding cake. It was described as French cake that is not too sweet and delicious. So we went and did some taste tests, and it was indeed, one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. We ordered the cake for our wedding, and at the end of it, everyone commented on how good the cake was. Even after 2 years, people still tell me how good the cake was. Now we order these sheet cakes for bdays, anniversaries, and other special events. My only "complaint" would be there aren't more of these places thoughout Minnesota. :)

Pros: Non-super sweet frosting; cake is extremely moist.

Cons: none

The Buttercream Collection is supposed to have such great service. Their service is horrible. My wedding cake I received was not the one I ordered. The only resolution they would give would give was a gift certificate or a $ 37 refund. This was not acceptable to me. The owner of the company ending up hanging up on me at the end of the phone conversation. Very unprofessional! I would not recommend them to anyone!

Pros: poor service, rude owner

We had Buttercream Collection do our wedding cake this past August and were more than happy with the results. We were hooked after meeting with them to do a taste test at the Minnetonka store. My husband and I cleaned the sample plate and later remarked that you could almost eat an entire tub of their frosting. :-) We had been to multiple taste tests at other bakers and their buttercreams didn't hold a candle. I would suggest that you try other places first and save Buttercream for your last stop before deciding on a baker.

Editor's Review

Around since the 1980s, this wedding cake shop offers rich flavors like lemon-strawberry, chocolate Bailey's Irish cream and English trifle.  See the full editorial review.
