Sports restaurant-bar draws fans who love the food as much as the game.

by Contributor

In Short
Using their original burgers-and-beer joint in St. Paul, Minn., as a base modl, this sports-themed chain is now a popular hangout for all ages nationwide. The memorabilia-loaded space is crowded with families and friends chatting over chili cheeseburgers, bourbon-glazed pork chops and large orders of soups and salads. On major game nights, the shiny wooden bar area is packed with small groups eyeing the monitors above while cheering or grumbling into their pints and fries.

Great Kids night Tues, fun bar

by loop123

I love Tueday nights, 2 free kids meals with one adult purchase. The TVs are on cartoons and there is a kid who make all sorts of baloon animals. The bar is a great place to hang out and meet up with friends on the weekends. The servers are always friendly and fun. Great Place!

  • Pros: Fun staff, good food, great place to take kids

chammps has gone downhill

by brada55306

champps has really gone downhill in the last couple of years. some examples of this:

the wait staff - half the time staff is great, other times staff acts un-concerned with your requests, ditsy greeters at the door seem more concerned with themselves then wanting to seat you

food quality has gone downhill - quality of food used to be awesome, and some food is still good, but tuna melt was downgraded, great nacho app was removed, and besides the weekly specials the menu is upgraded bar food, burgers, sandwiches for a price - $9-12 average

beer and liquor - is always good, and bartenders are knowledgeable

summary - go here to watch a game, and get some beers, and some good cheap $3 apps

  • Pros: awesome knowlegdeable bartenders and liquor selections
  • Cons: ditsy wait staff, food quality has really gone downhill since restaurant opened

Worst experience ever

by eclipse11

Visited Champps a few days ago, heres how the day went. Walked in, 3 employees were standing at the podium laughing and talking, my girlfriend and I stood there for around 30 seconds waiting till they were done and to get some sort of attention. Nobody said "Hi" or "Welcome" just, "how many..", great way to greet your paying customers. Than, we get sat at a booth, i'm thinking good, I like getting booths compared to small tables. Sit down in the booth and my bench seat is about 3 feet away from the table, I'm thinking it was made for larger people who have trouble fitting in small areas *not me or my girlfriend*. After looking through the menu, and not seeing anything that looks appetizing that is at a reasonable price for simple American cuisine, we grudgingly order hamburgers..around $10 each for a standard cheeseburger, i'm thinking "....great". The waitress seemed to be pretty clueless which also didn't seem to help the experience. So finally, the food comes...we both ordered hamburgers, and the waitress doesn't bring ketchup or mustard...hmmm...so we have to ask for it. She than brings a ketchup bottle, I open the cap, and it is caked with old dried ketchup, absolutely disgusting. I would expect this type of thing to happen at some crappy diner or restaurant where the food is dirt cheap, but this was completely unacceptable. Finally, we left...no one said "Goodbye" or "Have a good night", there were just 3 people standing at the podium talking as we left. Needless to say, we are never in any circumstance going to step foot into any Champps ever again. I would have not come on here to write this review if only one or two of these events happened, but when every aspect of this dining experience was an absolute nightmare, I had to let others know.

  • Pros: did not experience any
  • Cons: read everything that I wrote

Best Bar and Great Food

by gastronomic

By far the most happening bar south of the river.

The portions are huge, and the foods' home-made.

The staff is fun, and the bartenders are great! It's my favorite Sports Bar in the Twin Cities.

Lunch is always good and fast. Kid friendly, and close to shopping.

See you there...

  • Pros: Fun place to be seen, Great Food & Service
