Good fun
by pinkedup
I live close to Mystic Lake and had to add my own comments. This is a great place to go for food. The Buffet is awesome and Ribbons has amazing steak and lobster. Everyone I've encountered here is friendly and helpful and they *are* regulated like any other place. You are on "foreign soil" but in reality its no different than anywhere else. I stayed in the hotel a few years back and since then they've undergone some renovations and from what I've seen its a very luxurious place to stay. I would (and have) recommended this place to friends and family.
- Pros: Great food, good fun and friendly staff
- Cons: Can be crowded on the weekends, wait for Buffet can be long
BEST HOTEL IN TWIN CITIES
by johnsonjj69
I don't know why Mystic Lake Casino Hotel was not added to the Twin Cities BEST hotels. This hotel is amazing! Such attention to detail, luxury, free valet parking, access to full-service health club for registered guests as well as a pool, fitness room, sauna and hot tub in the hotel!
I was so impressed by this hotel that I would recommend it to everyone!
Great weekday packages including $10 in coin per day and discounted food.
Gambling, national entertainment and a great buffet all day, every day.

The Scene
At more than half a million square feet, this is the largest casino in Minnesota, closest to the Twin Cities and managed by the most experienced coterie. Follow the "tepee of light" to a prairie Vegas offering big-name entertainers (on the Celebrity Palace stage) and a ritzy hotel. Mystic Lake shares many facilities with older, smaller sibling Little Six Casino, about a mile north.
The Amenities
The hotel has an impressive conference center with a large and well-tended convention space. Eats include the mother of all buffets, along with delis, food carts and Ribbons Fine Dining. For midnight munchies, find round-the-clock service at the Gamblers' Grill and the pleasant, airy Minnehaha Cafe. There's also more than 3,000 slot machines, 100 blackjack tables and just about every type of coin-pay game from nickel slots to progressive video blackjack.
You are on foreign soil

Caveat Emptor should be the word here. This facility is not subject to the normal laws and policies of the area surrounding the reservation. As such there are some things to be aware of.
The gaming facilities are the best you will find between Atlantic City and Las Vegas. However, they are not subject to regulation so the guaranteed payout is much much lower than the other places.
The shows that Mystic brings in are almost top notch. They do not have the space to run something like Seigfried and Roy or Cirque de Solei like Vegas does, but they get some very strong acts.
You'll have fun here, but I caution you to be aware of that this isn't Las Vegas.
It went downhill

I used to love to come here with two friends of mine - good, inexpensive food and it didn't take losing a fortune to make you feel like you had a good time. Now, most of the good deals are closed when I can afford to go, and if you don't spend ungodly amounts of money as a Club Mystic member - you get NOTHING in the way of comps.
They took what felt like a Vegas experience, and turned it into a big reminder of what happens when greed knows no limits...
- Pros: Open 24-7, Buffet, Occasional Good Show
- Cons: Crowded, Noisy, Rude Staff
