Awful
by weiver
The place tries to be a Mini-Manny's and completely misses the mark. It's like shooting a free throw and not hitting any rim. Runny creamed spinach, inedible clams, so-so steak, servers with a lame I-got-attitude tired game and limp expensive steaks. The playing card/ acoustical tile ceiling speaks to them just not getting it. No charm, no service, and no flavor. Why can't Wayzata get some decent food?
- Pros: close to home
- Cons: food is below home standard
Major Disappointment
by headchef67
Diehard Manny's fan, told by numerous to try Gianni's. Man is this place overrated. Went on a Monday night, dining room was 1/3 full. Server was invisible and the "house specialty" Bone in Filet was a complete joke. Ordered it med. rare, came out burnt and medium, all this for $42. Table side salad is overrated. Tried to complain to the hostess but she was too busy clearing tables. For what is considered an upscale restaurant in an upscale area of town this place was sure a disappointment. The $200 bill didn't ease the pain any either. For this kind of quality and service you're better off going to Outback.
- Pros: Ambience, location
- Cons: Service, quality, value
Best steakhouse on a lake!

Make a reservation this summer. Right off Lake Minnetonka.
Great bar, great food, huge salads!
Great for business dinners!
- Pros: A fantastic place for business dinners
Downtown Wayzata restaurant is for big appetites and big spenders.

In Short
An understated, but definite moneyed feel in the dining room includes honey-colored wood booths with etched glass panels above that separate, and velvety seat cushions below that soften. While Frank Sinatra croons over the sound system, carnivores dig into Gianni's juicy Delmonico rib eye, shrimp scampi and peppery grilled pork chops. Side orders are for sharing: mashed potatoes, cheese-stuffed hash browns.
- Pros: elegant
- Cons: loud
Love it here

This is a terrific place to get a steak. Fantastic salads too. Try it out.
- Pros: Food, Service, Location
not worth it
by curler
This place is too overrated. The sirloin steak was tough and too well done and our prime rib was 1/2 fat. The salad was average - nothing spectacular. Certainly not worth the price. The cheese potatoes were excellent
- Pros: ambiance
- Cons: overpriced, below avg food
lighten up and have some fun

Typical of a restaurant of this type: Nice decor, a bit pricey and a gimmick here and there. The salad thing is a gimmick but hey, aren't the gimmicks part of the fun?
Oh and the magician...it's a nice touch. She is very entertaining, witty, clever and excellent. I'd go back just to see her work again.
- Pros: Magician, Ambiance, Fun
Abysmal

What a disappointment. We tried to order 3 different wines at the bar, all of which the bartender was unfamiliar with, only to be told they were out of all of them. We gave up. The salad idea is just goofy. My steak was good, but the crab legs had something seriously 'off' about them - possibly old? I couldn't eat them. My friend was unable to eat his steak because of the gristle. All of this for $250! Oh, and Gianni's: get rid of that magician.
- Pros: Cool location, Cozy bar
- Cons: Food, Wine list, Expensive!
Above average, but overpriced.

Liked the atmosphere; that combined with the downtown Wayzata location made this a nice, romantic dining experience. The salad tossed at our table was an unexpected pleasure. Its ingredients were very fresh, ranging from anchovies to shrimp to veggies. But our main courses were severely overpriced. For a dinner tatalling over $100, it was nothing to rave about. And our waitress was too chatty about her personal life. Overall, "good" dining at the price of "great" dining.
- Pros: salad tossed at table
- Cons: overpriced
Never Again
by JMayeron
A steak full of gristle, green beans swimming in soy sauce and a server able to become invisible...All this for only $29.95 per entree! You say you want more? How about 2.5 ounces of mediocre wine for $8.00? O.K....still more: How about a "magician" who visits tables and hustles customers for tips? (She was loud and obnoxious; we thought she was a customer and asked to be moved to a different table). Never again...There many better ways to spend $60.00 per person for dinner.
- Pros: Generous portions, Best salad in town
- Cons: Inattentive server, Overpriced, Below average food
