The best club in Minneapolis...
by skmistry at Citysearch
I moved here from the east coast about 5 years ago, and The Lounge is the only club worth going to in the Twin Cities. The atmosphere is great, the bartenders are gracious...which is much better than a NYC club. I have been there many times, and have always left having a really fun night. Another plus is the music...the DJs actually know what they are doing!
- Pros: Music, Atmosphere
- Cons: Drinks
Fun place but, needs a bigger crowd

I have fun at the lounge. They have 3 rooms with different music in each which is nice because it's kind of like bar hopping without going outside. I have always found the staff to be friendly and I enjoy the fact that most of the people who are there are not the drunken college students doing 21 shots on their birthday type. The only negative aspect is that a number of times I have been there and it was really dead. With three separate rooms, they really need to pack the place to make it feel full and sometimes the attendance is just pitiful. I had fun regardless but, would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have that sad "I threw a party and no one showed up" feel. Also, I went on one night when they advertised having belly dancers. I belly dance myself so I thought this would be really cool. However, it ended up being your standard gogo dancers wearing their bras and some kind of long fabric skirt thingy-- not even a proper belly dance costume let alone dance! Seriously, these places have a dress code for patrons, why they can't get their own employees to wear actual costumes instead of cheap lingerie is beyond me!
- Pros: Fun, good music, nice atmosphere
- Cons: sometimes empty, gogo dancers look ridiculous,
Great place to hang out and party!

Regular Minneapolis Regular...

I had a great time hanging out here at first. The dj in the techno room made it very fun to dance and welcomed us nicely. The bartenders on that side were very friendly as well. When my friends and I decided to check out the hip-hop side, things changed. The music was decent, and we met some O.K people. I was sitting near the dance floor talking to a few pretty girls, having a good time.
All of a sudden the bouncer came up to me and told me I had to leave. I literally did nothing wrong but was told I was not the type of guy allowed in the club... was it my long hair? I was kicked out of the club and made to wait outside until my credit card was retrieved from the other side of the club so I could pay for my drinks (possibly inflated disrespectfully). I don't know what kind of chip they had on their shoulders, but as a nice guy who isn't the type to disrespect any girl I meet at a club or bar, I was very disappointed in their handling of this situation, and will NEVER go there again. I usually don't write reviews or have comments on these sort of things, but the negativity that came out of this place made a mark on me, and I hope I can convince a few people to avoid this establishment or at least be apprehensive about it because they literally ruined a night for me, and I don't want it to happen to anyone else.
Best Regards,
- Matt
- Pros: Great techno DJ. Terrible Worldviews of most staff besides.
- Cons: Bouncers almost got life.. but not quite..
We loved The Lounge
by Nikki707 at Citysearch
We were there for a friend's birthday two weeks ago and had an absolute blast! We will for sure be back. Best part of the place was the multiple rooms of different music. Also, the staff was incredibly gracious and the crowd looked amazing. My whole group commented how great this club was for several days afterward. We are going back this weekend and getting a vip table!
- Pros: people, music, employees
- Cons: no valet, but there is a ramp close by I guess
Lame-o!!!

We were prepared for a rockin' time to celebrate my friend's 29th birthday at The Lounge and were majorly disappointed :-( There was may-be a total of 100 people in the place; not the packed, posh party scene that we were expecting. And dress code??? There didn't seem to be one, which was disappointing enough in and of itself. It felt like being at a bad frat party back when I was 19, which is not an experience that I want to relive at the age of 28. The hip hop room played music that was popular about 15 years ago and the techno room was full of a bunch of deadbeats standing around staring at eachother. We ended up ditching the place about 30 minutes after we got there and headed over to Bootleggers and had a blast over there! The Lounge is an overrated club that's merely trying to keep up; it's glory days are long gone.
- Pros: Parking, free cover before 10:30
- Cons: Pretty much everything else.
May be I went in a wrong time

Yes, I was so prepaired to pass a good time, but when I got to this best club in MPLS, I just kept myself from falling asleep! Euro style?????Best DJ????Dress code???? Boy, happilly that I wasn't too dress for it, because may be it is just a Minnesotan thing, may be I don't understand it, but I didn't find this club a winner! First of all DJ didn't say a word, usually DJs have to stimulate an audience, ''kiss .....'' to better describe it. I am talking about my experiences with other clubs in ......
Well I think I just didn't get it...
Sorry The Lounge.....
- Pros: service
- Cons: Ambience, Parking,
A tony Warehouse District night spot with European flair and loads of personality.

In Short
This is where celebrities and bigwigs (including Prince) go for a good time. With a cozy, couch-filled interior, including a private VIP room that surrounds the flashy dance floor. Fed by a lineup of the Twin Cities' best club DJs, the Lounge appeals to the sophisticated night-lifer. DJs play a mix of musical periods and styles. Weekends are a bit more danceable, but there's always something interesting pumping.
So much fun

I was at The Lounge 2 weeks ago, and again last week. It's been a while since I was there, but it is an awesome time. I planned to just stop in for a drink and ended up staying all night. The DJ/live musician combo was really cool and the go-go dancer was super cute. I'll be back!
