Horrible service
by jt465
Horrible.. horrible.. I can't even tell you why I even shop there. I miss the good old Marshall and Dayton. Macy is reallly going down hill.. They getting rid of all the good name brands. The service is horrible.. I would try to avoid them as much as possible.
- Pros: there is nothing pros about it
- Cons: EVERYTHING
From a miracle on 34th Street to malls in the 'burbs, this is middle-class America's own department store.

In Short
In 1857, R.H. Macy opened his eponymous dry goods store in New York City. These days, under the aegis of Federated Department stores, Macy's anchors malls coast to coast. Crowded displays boast second-tier labels: Lauren and Polo by Ralph Lauren, Reaction by Kenneth Cole, Allen by ABS. The shoe department features many upscale selections: Via Spiga, DKNY and Martinez Valero for the ladies and Cole Haan, Skechers and basic Bass loafers for the fellas.
Dayton's Days of Old

I hadn't been back for this wonderful Christmas tradition since I was a youngster and had forgotten just how much fun it was. I highly recommend it - kids or no kids!
Marshall Fields of Dreams

Marshall fields is a great store. It is the only store with Nautica Jeans where I live... I simply love this store. I completely agree with the description.

wow, a chain store in minneapolis! minneapolis needs to be just like sioux falls!
- Pros: nothing different, many floors, escalators
- Cons: boring, dull, same
Charlotte Russe
by KVSugar
I think Charlotte Russe should be #1 (or at least on the list). But I dont think it made it because its not in very many malls in MN (yet). It is in Eiden Prairie Center and Rosedale for sure!! You ladies should check it out...its like an upscale-better priced Wet Seal/Contempo Casuals/Express! The first time I shopped at a Charlotte Russe I was in San Diego and was wishing there was one at home (Minneapolis). Then a few months ago I noticed them popping up in MN!!
- Pros: Selection, Style, Price
- Cons: Limited Locations
Goodbye Dayton's!!!!!!!!!
by Vampiress
Since Dayton's became Marshall Field's many of my friends and I rarely shop there. The prices have seemed to go up, the quality go down and the selection disappear. I am very disappointed! This use to be my favorite place to shop!
- Pros: Good Parking
- Cons: Over priced, Lack of selection, Drop in quality
MAYBE DAYTON'S #1
by AANLA
IT SEEMS AS IF THE NAME CHANGE FROM DAYTONS TO MARSHALL FIELDS HAS CAUSED THE PRODUCTS TO OF GONE DOWN HILL OR MAYBE IT IS JUST THE TIMING OF BUYERS! THE WOMEN CLOTHES, WOMEN SHOES HAVE ALL CHANGED FOR THE WORST! I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING THERE OF STYLE!
Marshall's in a Field by itself
by joycie
Marshall Field's in absolutely my favorite store. If you can't find what you are looking for there, you will never find it. The prices are great, especially on clearance items and the sales are wonderful. The selection is fabulous and I have shopped other places but always come back to Marshall Field's. I don't know what my husband and I would do without that store.
- Pros: selection, petites available, good sales
Marshall Fields is Minneapolis
by Carl_pohlad
By far the best department store, and shopping experience in the Twin Cities. Many people do not understand that "Marshall Field's" is "Dayton's", as it is corporately based in Minneapolis and employs the same buyers as it did before the name change. Still a home-town favorite.
