Excellent special-order cakes!
by foodieinminneapolis
I've ordered cakes for my co-workers from Wuollet, and not only do people think they're delicious, but the service is amazing. I called on a Thursday afternoon asking for a cake to be ready Friday morning. The catch was that I needed the message on the cake to be written in *Arabic* -- I was able to get there at 4:10 on a Thursday afternoon to drop the message off. The employee I spoke with said it might be a bit tight to get the message to their bakery, but that he'd call me if there were problems. I didn't get a phone call, and the next morning at 8, when I went to pick up my cake, the message on the cake was perfect! And again, the cake was scrumptious. Well worth the upgrade from a grocery store cake.
- Pros: excellent baked goods, amazing service
- Cons: not open on Sundays (it *is* a bakery, after all!)
Its create-a-cake roster of flavors, fillings and adornments ensures a singular product for every customer.

In Short
What began in the late 1920s as a neighborhood bread-baking concern grew to include cakes, pastries and a following. Yet Wuollet is still a family-run bakery, watched over by two brothers, their uncle and a cousin. In the hands of Wuollet's cake artists, traditional white-on-white spectacles can ascend seven tiers. For the unconventional, Wuollet does souffle cakes featuring genoise hidden under drifts of Bavarian cream. A "sweet table" is covered in profiteroles, cheesecake and trifle.
Top notch pastries
by jkca
We go here for a donut or a scone and some coffee some Saturdays. Even in the afternoon they have a decent array of pastries which are still excellent. I have also bought a cake or two from them, wow they are rich!
Things to look out for? They serve the Dunn Bros. style liquid tar coffee. I suggest walking down the block to Pandora's and getting your coffee there (hey, it's only half a block!). Oh, and their gingerbread is rock hard (I like mine al dente).
- Pros: fast, excellent selection, consistant
- Cons: liquid-tar-coffee

It is hard to imagine pulling off a wedding, graduation, birthday or open house without Wuollet's. Its cakes and tortes are sublime.
- Pros: quality baked goods, centrally located
