I think Giorgio's is the BEST italian in Minneapolis. Very authentic. Every dish I have tried has been excellent. I love their bread and calamari. They used to have a dish made with bucatini that was my favorite and they took it off the menu. I was disappointed because I could not find that kind of dish anywhere else. Bring back the bucatini!!! Bucatini or not, Giorgio's is still my favorite.

Pros: Excellent, authentic italian

I went to dinner at this restaurant with a friend for his college Italian class a couple of years ago. We were there on a weeknight and were pretty much the only people in the restaurant. The menu was certainly a refreshing deviation from the kind of fake-Italian you'd see at your local Olive Garden. Our food was delicious and high quality. I recommend Giorgio's to anyone who wants to try REAL Italian dishes!!

Pros: authentic Italian cuisine, timely service

Cons: restaurant was empty

No wonder nobody goes here anymore. The food was aweful and overpriced. In addition to being unimaginative, the menu offered nothing you couldn't get from your local Lunds. I had the swordfish with capers and a horseradish cream sauce. There was no horseradish cream sauce. Everything it seems is served witha side of gnocci, which reeks of the stuff you get at the grocery store in vaccum sealed packages. Plain gnocci, mind you. No sauce. My swordfish also came with some vegetables, peppers mostly, that were so overcooked you have to wonder if they were prepared in a commercial microwave. I don't know why, be we had dessert. It was some ridiculous excuse of cheesecake that looked like an oversized oreo cookie. The waiter apologized like crazy, saying that they had a new line cook and he was learning the ropes. We had a veiw into the kitchen, where their prestegious "chef" is just some south american guy wearing a baseball cap and an apron. Who is the chef at this place? where does he or she live? I want my money back!!!!

I thought the food was great, but the service was odd, for lack of a better word. The waitress seemed very nervous and left in the middle of taking our order to answer the phone. Appetizers were cleared before they were finished. They ran out of to go boxes and could only offer tin foil to wrap up our left over pasta. Weird experience-it seemed like the food belonged in a different restaurant. There was a free bottle of wine with a bill over $30 which was a very nice.

Pros: food

Cons: experience

My husband and I recently married and had our Rehearsal Dinner at Giorgio's. It was fantastic!! Our party was 28 people, perfect for Giorgio's main room, and the welcome and work that the staff provided was truly outstanding. The antipasto and entrees (5!) were raved about, without exception, by everybody there (it has been excellent each time we've visited) and the ambience provided by Giorgio, his wife Barbara, and the staff was so nice. It was such a treat to support a locally owned, "mom and pop" Italian restaurant and have the experience be such a great one! It was a beautiful part of a beautiful Wedding weekend!! I would whole-heartedly recommend this establishment for a Rehearsal Dinner, other planned event, or simply for a delicious dinner for two! Thanks to Giorgio's!!!

Pros: Innovative and delicious food at reasonable prices, wonderful atmosphere and service.

Cons: None.

Never felt strongly enough about an establishment to write a review, until now! After visiting Giorgio's for the third time in two months, we are convinced that this is the finest combination of authentic Italian food and charmingly intimate atmosphere in town, at a very reasonable price. We've intentionally ordered different dishes at each visit, and have been consistently impressed. The service is friendly and the happy hour deals on beer and wine very nice. If you're looking for inventive and delicious Italian food, give this place a try. Whatever the menu features, be it the sea bass, stuffed chicken or pork loin, or ravioli, you cannot go wrong!! This family-run business is a gem!!

Pros: Food! Ambience, price.

Cons: None

We were abruptly asked to leave by the owner’s wife. She said that “we had been there for 1 hour and 45 minutes and we had to leave….I will give you 10 more minutes.”, she said and walked away. We left and never will return to support that kind of attitude from management. It doesn’t matter how the food was when you treat customers that pay $150.00 plus for a wine and dinner experience. Food was good (not exceptional), our server, Matt, was excellent. Luckily for them there’s no competition around uptown or over by eat street. Yeah right!

I couldn't agree more with recent reviews. I used to eat here regularly several years ago. We stopped in again in January, and had the most offensive meal I have ever encountered. The beet salad was warm on one side of the plate, and ice cold on the other. The gnocchi was served in long tubes, left un-cut and bone dry. We returned one item, and the manager informed us she had a new cook, who was not familiar with some of the items. The waitress seemed frustrated. As a frequent twin cities diner, I am absolutely amazed this place is still open under current ownership.

Pros: wine list

Cons: everything else

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! This was by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to in terms of food, service and having enough room to eat. I went to Giorgio's before a high school dance on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Our waitress came to our table a total of three times the entire night. Even before we were seated, our table was missing forks and butter in half the spots. We had to ask for our water, refreshments and food. She also claimed that they had run out of ravioli and had no soup available, despite the fact that "soup of the day" is listed on the menu. When asked if there was Chicken Fetuccine Alfredo served, the waitress, who refused to tell us her name, looked baffled and confused. For a refill on my $2 a can pop, I had to ask the bartender. Furthermore, when the waitress saw I was approachiing the bartender, she yelled at me to sit down. The food was luke warm by the time we got it, (1 hour and 15 minutes after ordering.) My gnocchi dish crumbled when I prodded it with a fork. After we were done, even the smallest two girls of our party of eight, (each weighing about 100 pounds) were still hungary. We promptly asked for the bill, which she refused to split up for each couple. I realized afterwards that she most likely didn't split the bills up so she could factor in the 17% gratuity. The one out of ten was earned by a waiter who helped us out a couple of times with silverware and pepper, which wasn't placed on our table. I enjoy going to restaurants often and was offended by how I was treated. But, to end on a positive note, I admit that there were a couple of nice paintings in the crowded restaurant. Never attend this restaurant, unless you want your date in a bad mood after dinner and dessert, if it's offered to you, (which wasn't offered to our table.)

Pros: Paintings, candles at table

Cons: Food, service, politeness, respect, waitress promptness

Across the board - pizza (gross), salad (too much vinegar), bruschetta (dry and tasteless), pasta (undercooked), special pasta of the day (swimming in sauce), beet salad (WAY too many ingredients), spaghetti (terrible) - the food was BAD! The air conditioning was non-existent in the back room. Our waitress seemd crabby and bored. This is a restaurant that we were very fond of several years ago. Do not plan to visit now
