Best mojitos in town!

If you want an authentic Spanish restaurant.. this is the place. The food was great. Best mojitos in town by far. The drinks are a little bit expensive, but I think they're onto the fact you can't get them any better. The food was great too. It's best to come with a small group of friends so that everyone can order 1 or 2 different dishes and you can try a little bit of everything. Great place to hang out with friends and talk while having dinner.

horrible food!!!!

food was incredibly horrible. we ordered, two chicken dishes, a sausage dish, and calamari. One of the chicken dishes we got was either overcooked or cooked over too many times. it was stale, hard to chew, and super dry. the staleness of the chicken was beyond belief, I couldn't cut through the piece of chicken with my knife. the other chicken dish was dry and completely flavorless. the sausage was burned. the calamari was not cooked very thoroughly...and also flavorless. Their service was ok...nothing special. i will not be visiting again!

We literally had the opposite experience from the previous reviewer. We had first stopped in at ?It?s Greek to Me? across the street, where after we got our water and menus, we proceeded to wait 20 minutes with no sign of our waiter. Finally, because we were hungry and not really in the mood, we simply left. Then we saw La Bodega across the street and headed over there. It wasn?t terribly busy, I assume because of all the construction on Lake Street, but it was about half full. We were both glad we ended up there, because we got served immediately. We found the service incredibly friendly and attentive (but not too attentive). The food was pretty good. Neither of us had eaten much that day, so who knows whether we loved it because it truly was excellent, or we were just thankful to get food and be served after our previous experience at the greek place. The chorizo had a nice slow burning spice to it (although the polenta it was served on was kind of mushy and cold). My husband enjoyed his chiparones rellenos (stuffed squid), although he said the filling was a bit bland. The cheese and potato croquettes were very good (like upscale fair food) ? nicely fried and indulgent. The asparagus was also pretty good, though slightly overpriced for what it was. My favorite part was my mojito, which was not overly strong but it was huge?exactly what I needed after a long week at work. We also enjoyed the music and flamenco dancers. So overall, we really enjoyed La Bodega, and we were happy to have ended up there for the evening.

Don't go here if you want Good Service

The first time I came here, I walked in with my friend on a Friday night, and then walked right out because it was completely dead in there. The hostesses seem half asleep and you get the feeling you're going to have bad service. The second time I went there was with my boyfriend. We came after dinner to have a drink and listen to the Flamenco music and watch the flamenco dancer. We sat down at the bar and we were not greeted. I didn't see anyone working there. The other customers looked bored and tired. Every once in a while I would see someone come behind the bar, but then leave right away. I had to ask for a drink....and it took about 15 minutes for the drink to come. Keep in mind, there was hardly anyone in the whole place. It's a shame that such a creative and unique place has to have such bad service!! I love that they have Flamenco music and dancing here.....that's what I went for. The only positive to the place was the entertainment. I had a Sangria, and I did not like it. I make my own Sangria at home and I am good at it. Their Sangria tasted like Cranberry juice. Maybe the owner or the employees of La Bodega will read this review and change their practice of bad service to better service!!

With its sunshine-yellow walls, ornately tiled bar, live flamenco music and dancing on weekend nights, the atmosphere is fun and festive. The place quickly fills up with groups of 20-somethings out for a night of noshing and socializing. The menu only has tapas--small dishes of Spanish food meant to be shared. Basic options include caprese salad made with buffalo mozzarella or sauteed white button mushrooms. The chefs have a way with seafood: The garlic shrimp are perfectly grilled and the tomato-tuna-egg salad is refreshingly light.

La Bodega is a tapas bar in Minneapolis. It is located in the Lynn-Lake area (Lyndale, Lake St). This restaurant is kind of out of place for the area. The area boasts many restaurants, most of which offer lots of food at usually reasonable prices. La Bodega, unfortunately, is too high priced for what you get. The restaurant serves mainly tapas..small fancy appetizers. For someone like my fiancee, this simply isn't enough food. It doesn't fill him up. The food, while tasty, is just too expensive and not filling enough. They do have good wine, but it is also expensive, unless you catch wine specials, usually only held on weekdays.

PROS: Variety of choices of tapas; interesting food unusual to Midwest

CONS: Expensive for serving size
