I love the Riverview. It's a discount theater, but without the sticky floors, broken seats, and poor sound of so many cheap seats, and with so much more character! The amphitheater seating means there's not a bad seat in the house. The huge, lit marquee and swanky lobby are an extra treat.

The ticket counter is small and for popular films the line often extends out the door and down the sidewalk, so be prepared. Rest assured, though; there are so many seats I've never seen it sell out.

Cheap movies, great popcorn and a retro vibe draw people to this Minneapolis theater. This '50s-era South Minneapolis theater would set Dean Martin’s heart aflutter: Mid-century modern furniture ornaments the lobby; a retro carpet looks like it’s been decorated with party favors; hanging lights look like translucent candy pieces; and the tiled walls and curved ceilings spell Hollywood glamour. Those aren’t the only things drawing theater-goers to this renovated masterpiece. The Riverview showcases cheap movies ($2 or $3), and serves up some of the best popcorn in town. It’s made from local corn and topped with butter from local producers Hope Creamery. In fact, the scent of this famous popcorn is so alluring that people come from all over to grab a bag to go.

Great Old Time Theater Is Reborn Here

This place takes me back to my youth (looong time ago). I feel like I'm so welcome when I come in the door. The temperature is always just right. They really support neighborhood activities and often offer local films as well as big time movies. The popcorn is a gourmet's delight. As cheap as this theatre is, I urge you not to bring your own treats. Their treats are great!

Beautiful neighborhood theater with great decor and wonderful sound system

First off, best popcorn I've ever had. They do it old school with real butter melted right there! The theater was redone in the 50's and everything is original besides the actual theater which has new comfortable seats and a great sound system. Friendly service, very clean, and only $2 for a show.
