Don't bother..

by CSMobileUser

We were rudely treated upon arrival and told to wait outside in the cold - which we refused to do. We then waited for twenty minutes before being seated at a dirty table with ripped furniture and handed a menu that had not been wiped off in a month. I can't comment on the food because we waited over fifteen minutes for a server to arrive which never happened. It might be added that the overall unkept appearance of the place and it's employees made me question what the kitchen mightblook like. After spending most if my life in the restaurant business, I would say that this place does a great job illustrating what NOT to do.

  • Pros: Example: best croissants in town
  • Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Bad Service

by MelLaYelLoO

I was recommended this place by a friend. I'd gone on a really busy Sunday morning, waited for an half an hour. Was seated and waited an HOUR for our breakfast which was eggs and toast.... The people next to us waited were seated after us and waited 45 minutes for their food and the server offered them free drinks...and yet we were not. The people working there were looking somewhat dirty and sweaty and we should have left. But we ate and it was good, although I still can't believe we waited an hour and they didn't offer any sort of compensation. I told the waitress that she served the people next to us before us and were given free drinks and I thought that the same should be done for us, she said ok to but was not very apologetic or nice about any of it. THEN we left and I realized I'd left my boyfriends ridiculously expensive Ray Bans on the table as we'd gotten to the car. He went back in the restaurant and asked the waitress if she'd seen them, she said no, he then looked and couldn't find them and asked her for help looking and she was so rude and refused. He then talked to the manager and she was a bit nicer and they found the glasses on the floor with one of the lenses smashed. Which this obviously isn't their fault, it just was the cherry on top of a miserable mess. It's funny b/c my friend has had good experiences here, but I had one that will ensure I never go back. Great breakfast - casual and delicious

by sonsalla

Love, love, love the biscuits and gravy! Visit on the weekends and plan to wait. Use the time to read the paper, catch up with a friend, and look forward to the fantastic breakfast soon to be served. French toast, hash browns...mmmm.

  • Pros: Food, Parking, People-Watching
  • Cons: Busy on the weekends

greasy spoon cafe

by dabners

The food was quick, relatively inexpensive and greasy! The coffee was bitter to boot. I'm not sure why people rave about this place as much as they do. There are better choices in the neighborhood.

Best Omelette, fast service

by Lauren3Minne

This was my first time here and the food was delicious. I had an omelette stuffed with bacon, peppers, salsa, cactus, spinach, and cheese. Putting cactus in an omelette is amazing. There was so much food, I had to take half of it home. Great food, eclectic atmosphere. Best breakfast.

  • Pros: Large menu options

Interesting, Cozy, Fun

by carlys2

I just had to try them... it sounded so strange... Blue Corn Cakes.

Basically like cornbread only a little sweeter, shaped like pancakes, blue with bright yellow kernels. Looked interesting... very tasty! Little bit of butter and honey and I was in love.

Good all around breakfast food, servers that put up with a lot but don't seem to mind, large portions, decent prices, fairly quick service.

A great place to stop for breakfast. Entertaining murals on the walls. Mildly different food (you can order basic breakfast fare, or southwestern... something for everyone).

Dude... seriously... blue corn cakes! Add a couple eggs on the side, or some fruit. Killer breakfast.

Definitly going there again.

  • Pros: Good Food
  • Cons: Not good for groups, space is very limited

Best Breakfast hands down

by lodge

For anyone who enjoys biscuits and gravy, this is the place for you. This dish sets the standard for a wonderful hangover breakfast and if you are in the area this is the best you'll get. The portions here are huge and I have tried a number of dishes here and are all good. I have a hard time not spending my last 20 dollars (for 2) here. This is a great place for large appetites.

  • Pros: Best breakfast ever
  • Cons: waiting on weekends

Must Try

by mntraveler

I love this place. Everything I have tried there has been excellent, especially the Santa Fe Railroad french toast! It does get busy and crowded at times...but for good reason! . Previous reviewers have complained about the wait. This is not the place to go if you're in a hurry on a weekend morning! However, it is an excellent place to relax while enjoying an inexpensive meal with friends.

great breakfast

by elosogrande

the reviews about the french toast were not wrong. Great service, friendly staff (gave us lots of tourist suggestions per request). I had the chorizo & eggs Mexican-style breakfast....huge portions & properly spiced. The place definitley has a neighborhood, non-pretentious feel.

Sante Fe French Toast

by wonca

I'm not normally a french toast fan, but the Sante Fe french toast is worth the trip alone. If you haven't had it, it's definitely worth a try.

The only downside, is that if you have a larger group expect a wait on the weekends. Otherwise, decent service (depends on how busy they are), good prices and GREAT food!

  • Pros: Outdoor seating in the summer
  • Cons: Expect a wait if you've got a larger group
