Just like it tasted in Cyprus
by Athena1167
Great ambiance, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the food reminds me of when I was in Cyprus. I always enjoy their calamari and avegelemeno soup most, but it should all be sampled. I have tried the other Greek restaurants in town, but this is the only one that recreates the actual Mediterranean flavor.
- Pros: Great food with a nice atmosphere--perfect for casusal dinning or a night out
- Cons: None that I can see
Real Greek food for real Greeks (and everyone else)
by Petrakis
As a Greek myself (with a grandmother who was a very noted chef in the Mediterranean), Christo's is where I go for my Greek fix. The food is always fresh, ingredients like the yogurt are made in the House -- and therefore are like nothing you'll get anywhere else. Full of flavor, spiced like only a Greek can do it, this food is interesting, satisfying, and often good examples of Greek "comfort food." The staff is fantastic, the owners make you feel like you're one of the family -- it's a place I always think of as my Minnesota taverna! Those who criticize this wonderful place may not know Greek food -- it's one of the great restaurants in the Twin Cities at any of the three locations (although Minneapolis has a special charm).
Million Times better than Santorini!
by ganna_y
Food was amazing and authentic, great selection of wines, unbelievable desserts, fun atmosphere - the Greek restaurant to go to in the Twin Cities. Compared to overpriced, Americanized and greasy Santorini, Christos is a Greek paradise.
- Pros: Great food, authentic Greek, nice decor, friendly service, great value, good wine list
- Cons: is sometimes overcrowded
With cool, blue colors and classic Greek fare, this rustic taverna feels miles away from Minneapolis.

In Short
Whitewashed walls, greenery and posters of picturesque Greece create an inviting backdrop for the tasty Mediterranean cuisine. That local foodies love Christos as much as bargain-hunters attests to the quality of the cooking. A starter sampler of hummus, pureed potatoes, roasted eggplant and cool tzatziki dips, served with warm pita slices, is perfect for sharing. The menu of dinner entrees seems endless, but favorites include hearty moussaka and spinach spanakopita in flaky phyllo pastry.
A longtime favorite

My wife and I have been eating at Christo's for years and we keep coming back. The food is consistently well prepared and the service is well-paced (neither rushed nor uncomfortably slow). I agree with the reviewers who comment that the atmosphere is a bit plain (try the St. Paul location for more ambience). Be sure to start with either a greek or village salad and a hummus appetizer. I enjoy trying the various Greek wines that are on always on the menu.
- Pros: Good value, Great food
Looking for greek romance
by loriho
I was disappointed. Where is todays old world romance. You pick out the food, which was good. and the place looks like yesterdays deli. Just once I'd like to be able to get good food and a romantic ambience.
Delicious Greek Food
by distant_station
Christo's is one of my favorite restuarants. The food is great, if you go, get the dip sampler. It has four different dips to go along with Pita and is great to wet the appetite. I haven't had anything bad here, my favorite is the greek hash, the falafal is also great, the tabouli, the mousaka, they are all delicious. The service is generally good, if you get a seasoned server, the service is great, otherwise it can be just average. The wine list contains several greek wines that are fun to try. Even the house salad has an amazing dressing.
- Pros: Amazing Greek Food
- Cons: Inconsistent Service
Sorry, but way overated
by spunkeegrl
I had heard this place was good, but was disappointed with the food. The main dishes did not have balanced ingredients and there was too much meat in every main entree (we ordered the sampler dish). The tomato basil soup was excellent, as well as the service. Nice place, but better greek places to eat for the same amount of money.
- Pros: parking, friendly service
- Cons: atmosphere, dished too meaty
Bland Food but Nice Ambience
by emma_alexander
I have to take issue with their claim of "authentic" Greek Food. Greek cuisine is one of my favorites so was very disappointed upon tasting their Moussaka (a greek casserole)... my mother's hamburger hotdish is more interesting. Seemed to be little to no seasoning, come on this is supposed to be Greek Food not watered down Midwestern food (I'm from the midwest so I can say that). Almost everything was bland. THe Spanikopita was great though! light, crispy and freshly prepared
- Pros: Mediterrean Ambience
- Cons: bland food
Always Great
by jbfans
Where do I start?! I guess with the tomato basil soup, which is nothing short of fantastic. The salad bar is always fresh and crisp, and the Greek olives are wonderful. The gyro meat is as tender as you can find, but sometimes the tomatos aren't as ripe as they could be. Overall, for lunch or dinner, it is a great value, and the service is always friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back again and again...
- Pros: superb value, excellent service, fresh food
