USED to be really good

by meindopen at Citysearch

Used to go here (dine in and take-out) in the late 1990s and early 2000s- and it WAS really good. Seems to have taken a dive, though. Now the food seems very greasy and bland. Not sure if recipes/ingredients have changed or what. Too bad, because the people have always been really nice. USED to love the sizzling duck and the veggie fried rice. About the same price as a place south of there near France/50th, but the place at France/50th has become our go-to spot for Chinese now.

Could it be the Best Chinese food in the World?

by smalfry03 at Citysearch

Yes.

There are three things that you need to get on the menu.

1. fried Dumplings. The sauce is is amazing, I've tried to replicate it numerous times but have fallen short. The dumplings themselves have the best crispy texture and soft noodle covering you could ask for.

2. Sliced Leg of Lamb, Sichuan style. Amazing flavor, the green onions and the lamb are the perfect mix in a sauce that is to die for.

3. Peking Schrimp. Again, Andy does it with the sauce. It is sweet, yet has a little heat to it. Mixing the sauce with rice is a taste that words cannot describe, not to mention the shrimp themselves are cooked to perfection every time.

I've been going here for 10 years now and have never ordered anything different than those three things in fear of not being as satisfied. It is the best meal I have ever had time and time again and would not trade it for anything. Money is not a factor when it comes to the best food you will ever taste.

Dissappointing Chinese

by marlashaw at Citysearch

The food was over priced. The portion of food of each entre' was small. The flavor was very bland and we were very dissappointed. This was not a good value for my money. If the food was tasty I would not mind as much paying the higher price, but that was not the case here. You can get good quality Chinese food with larger portions, better taste and a much more reasonable price elsewhere.

  • Cons: over priced, small portions, not good flavor

Typical Chinese restaurant known for first-rate specials, friendly and helpful servers, fresh ingredients and a clean atmosphere.

Did we go to the wrong Great Wall?

by whirlgirlz at Citysearch

Perhaps there's another Great Wall down the street. After reading reviews, and then going there, I think perhaps we went to the wrong restaurant. First, we ordered a $16 special - a vegetable and shrimp casserole. There was no shrimp in it - not one - only overcooked vegetables. The hot and sour soup tasted as if there was Worcestershire sauce in it - a lot of it. The chicken lo mein was dry - completely uneventful. The only saving grace was the broccoli and mushroom dish. But for a $40 dollar dinner for two - it didn't save this meal enough.

  • Pros: not one
  • Cons: overpriced, bad food
