Nice idea, but story time is way too crowded by Kristin C. at InsiderPages

This place had great ideas on how to entertain children. Pets running around is an interesting idea. I guess it gives kids a hands on approach when reading a story about an animal. However, I was not happy to see that about sixty kids showed up for story hour. It becomes impossible to do anything due to the large crowds.
If Maurice Sendak owned a bookstore, it would look a lot like this charming, kid-centric menagerie.

In Short
Kids know to enter through the purple inset door that's just their size, while adults fumble--and then are startled by a scolding from the rooster in the front window. Caged birds squawk and coo, at least two cats compete for customers' attention and a grape arbor looks lifted from the pages of "Where the Wild Things Are." There's a wall of picture books; sections on nature, world religions, creative activities and fine arts; even parenting books for moms and dads.
