This is truly the most fun bookstore ever. There are live animals, visits by authors, everything you could want to tempt your children to read. They will be captivated by it and so will you. Yes, it's loud, crowded at times, and more than a little crazy. I don't find those to be bad things.
If Maurice Sendak owned a bookstore, it would look a lot like this charming, kid-centric menagerie.

Kids know to enter through the purple inset door that's just their size, while adults fumble--and then are startled by a scolding from the rooster in the front window. Caged birds squawk and coo, at least two cats compete for customers' attention and a grape arbor looks lifted from the pages of "Where the Wild Things Are." There's a wall of picture books; sections on nature, world religions, creative activities and fine arts; even parenting books for moms and dads.
