I am a huge fan of electronic/synthpop music, love Depeche Mode, DE/VISION, Erasure, Mesh, Iris, Melotron, VNV Nation, Human League, Information Society, Alphaville and soooo oooon............ Unfortunately there are no places in town BESIDES Ground Zero who plays this type of music.......... Ground Zero has bands like VNV Nation, And One, Combichrist performed before... and still have more to come...
*** On Feb 21/2008 they will have DE/VISION live at the venue!!! Freezepop is coming too... ***
Check it out.
- Pros: MUSIC ! MUSIC ! MUSIC!
- Cons: everything else is irrelevant........ :)

Imagine an establishment conceived by Anne Rice and Quentin Tarantino and you have Ground Zero. This dark haunt plays great music and serves up moderately priced and well poured drinks by a quick and friendly staff. The clientele is an unusual mix of people - the bulk of which can be best described as former Goth high school kids that have no other outlet now that they are in college...but don't let this deter you.
The 'upstairs' show is quite strange, but the whole experience may be a perfect ending to a pub crawl with the right people.
- Pros: Friendly Staff, Stiff Drinks
- Cons: Cover Charge, Eclectic Clientele

Sure, if you'd like to spend a night in "HELL" with bad bartending, then this is the place for you! I have always been, and still am, disgusted with the atmosphere and pig-headed people who work at this toilet-bowl. One would think a so-called "GOTH" could make a decent Bloody Mary! You stink, "Ground Zero", literally~
- Pros: NoT a ThinG!!!
- Cons: Um...let's see...EVERYTHING!
Tons of fun

Even if you're a little skeptical, go! This place is fabulous for dancing. The music is dark and eminently danceable, and the people are friendly and laid-back. Everyone dances up a storm. I can't say more for this fun club. I've become a regular on Saturday nights. It's the place to dance.
- Pros: great dancing, atmosphere, people watching
This smart spot is a pioneer of the burgeoning northeast Minneapolis nightlife.

In Short
Music is the order of the evening at this cavernous, industrial-chic space in northeast Minneapolis. National tours and DJs also occasionally hit the stage, playing anything from alternative to classics from the 1950s and '60s. Themes are anything but routine--Thursdays and Saturdays feature voyeuristic "Bondage a Go-Go" parties. Expect to see a young-ish, fashionable crowd enjoying reasonably priced stiff drinks and a constantly hopping dance floor.
Love it!

So I wouldn't normally go to a place with a description like this. Dark, goth, bondage...doesn't sound fun. Went one night with friends and this place is actually pretty awesome. The atmosphere, crowd is all very different. Cocktails, while strong, could use a little help. They are served in little plastic tumblers that are small little juice glasses. I don't know what else to say about this place. Try it if you're looking for something new and fun!
Lots to see and dance to

This place is two bars rolled into one. You have the Front which is a college type crowd hangout that plays mostly 70s and 80s dance music and the bar in back dripping in dark Industrial theme, has Goth heads and techno punks hopping around to hard edge beats.
The bar is a little run down and dark in some places but overall, there is a lot to see and dance to. From gays, straights, Goth to Yuppie, everyone gets along in this bar and no attitude is thrown about. Everyone is there to dance & have fun.
The service is pretty quick, hospitable and the prices are average.
Parking is very hard to find, especially after 9pm. Street parking or pay $$ at some lots.
With the huge atmospheric difference between bars & music, there is something for everybody at this place no matter who you are.
- Pros: large music variety, Good service, lots to watch
- Cons: street parking, location, kinda dirty
Spank me!

I love both ground zero and the front. Ground zero is a fun, relaxing and laid back club. It is very entertaining to one's curious mind. The front give a whole new setting which is fun for those who get board easily in the same spot. This is definatly a fun spot to go for a night on the town!
