great date night spot

by Kri123 at Citysearch

The atmosphere at Annies in Dinkytown is perfect for a date night. It's intimate and the perfect place to talk. The burgers are great and the fries are homemade and great for sharing. If your date prefers a lighter fare, they have great chicken choices and salads. The malts at Annies are famous for a reason, chocolate banana is my favorite, but oreo and peanut butter cup come in a close second.

Nice place for a 1st date

by TravisSmith at Citysearch

I took a lady of mine here, and she really liked it. They had good potions of food for what you paid for the meal. The staff were very polite and paid attention to things. Our glasses were always filled when needed.

Riversides, nostagia and great malts

by RonH at Citysearch

I've enjoyed Annie's Parlour since the 70s while I was a Gopher. Being in Dinkytown, the atmosphere, smell of burgers, big malts and Riversides still makes Annie's one of our favorite retro-date places. The nostagia and fries add to the experience and the outdoor terrace - weather permitting - is another plus. Long live Annie's!!!

  • Pros: Gotta try a Riverside with chocolate and banana malt
  • Cons: Service can be slow. Be prepared for talking time.

Get what you pay for...

by henk0071 at Citysearch

After hearing 4 years of hype about Annie's I decided to stop by with 3 others for lunch on the patio. The place is certainly cheap with their burgers ranging from roughly $4-6. After hearing so many rave reviews of the burgers, I quickly realized that I consistently prepare larger, better-tasting Californias at home. Fries were pretty good, but not equal to those found at Town Hall Brewery just across the river. Malts were impressive but ordering one will double your bill. Service was pretty slow despite not being packed (During this particular visit it took about 20 miutes for the malts to arrive, 30 for the food). Probably never going back though I live a few blocks away. For a good burger around the U, Sally's or Town Hall trumps Annie's, but then again, most people probably go here for the malts.

  • Pros: Cheap if you skip the malts and split the fires
  • Cons: Far too expensive a lunch experience if you indulge

Great fries and malts, long food wait

by NadaJ at Citysearch

I love Annie's fries, burgers and malts--especially the malts, but the food wait is long. You'll wait at least 15 minutes for your food to arrive. It's a great place for groups to get together or for friends to meet up, just know you'll have to wait a long time for your food to arrive, so don't drink your malt too fast, and don;t be a rush to get anywhere afterwards.

  • Pros: Variety of malts/milkshakes.
  • Cons: Long wait for food.

REALLY Gone Down Hill

by jpnsweetie at Citysearch

I've been a loyal Annie's customer for about four years now, and boy, has the quality gone down the drain. I too have noticed the cold, uninterested service from the hostesses and servers, and have also experienced warm malts. Their burgers and fries are nothing special either. I still crave their Deluxe Grilled Cheese and BLT, but if that means I have to put up with rude, slow workers, I'll just stay at home and make my own sandwiches. Instead of visiting this run-down Dinkytown diner, I'd recommend eating at China Express, Burrito Loco, or Potbelly.

  • Pros: Ice Cream Sundaes
  • Cons: Rude Service, Dark and Dirty Atmosphere, No Parking, Bad Value

Not worth your time

by drea7 at Citysearch

My boyfriend and I just moved to the area and decided we would try this restaurant because it is so highly recommended. We waited at least a half hour until our food arrived. Our waitress passed by us frequently and never updated us about our food until I questioned her. Her response was rude as she looked at her watch and stated that it had only been 15 minutes. The restaurant was not busy and she had no explanation for our wait. When the food finally arrived it took her over 5 minutes and a reminder to refill my boyfriend's soda. We will not be returning.

P.S. The burgers and malts weren't any better than McDonald's.

  • Cons: terrible service!

Could Be Better

by velocityno9 at Citysearch

Am I the only one who thinks these guys are really rude? Went to Annie's for lunch and got the cold shoulder from the older-woman hostess both as she seated me and took my money. Also, the table service was very slow, though she was friendly. The food itself was adequate--the fries were good and were served in a more-than-generous portion, but the chocolate malt had the texture of snot because it had warmed up significantly in its journey from the kitchen to my table. Wouldn't go back.

  • Pros: Good size portions
  • Cons: Poor service

awesome

by grif0187 at Citysearch

I graduated from the U two years ago and moved back to Atlanta, I still have cravings for their milkshakes and burgers. Every time I go back to visit I make it a point to go to Annie's.

  • Pros: the milkshakes and burgers are great.
  • Cons: Honestly cannot remember any

Good Malts

by katieje at Citysearch

Nice place to sit on the patio, drink malts or shakes, and eat fries. Good service, great dinkytown location, and good prices. Good place to go for lunch or an afternoon snack with someone.

  • Pros: Location, Patio, Malts
  • Cons: Parking
