Good

by McMiss

I read some of the other people’s reviews and not sure what they ordered but everything I ordered was flavorful - especially for Chinese. I thought it was pretty good and would go back for sure. I noticed service is bad in a lot of “smaller” Asian restaurants. You just have to tell them they’re being rude and they usually back off.

  • Cons: location - who wants to be in a strip mall

NASTY, NASTY, NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!

by PennyL23

This is one of the worst places I have ever eaten at! The service was horrible & the food was completely unedible. And the cost was outrageous! Lunch "specials" were $15.00?!!? I would not recommend this place to anyone. No wonder it was empty the day I was there....

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

by FiresideLover

Customer service is very poor. I ordered a take out order and asked for sweet and sour sauce. She wanted to charge me .10 for each packet. I had just spent $40 on dinner. If I would have been dining in I wouldn't have been charged. The clerk didn't bother to thank me as I walked out the door. That is the last time I will be ordering from Red Pepper.

WORST CHINESE FOOD EVER!!!!

by MNGal1

This was, by far, the WORST chinese food I have ever had! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Where do I begin? (1.) The prices were WAY too high. No lunch menu & $14 for an entree. We got the cheapest things that we could find on the menu- chicken chow mein & pork chow mein. What we got was a big bowl of cooked celery w/ a little bit of rice on the side! Bland & tasteless to say the least! (2.) The service was horrible! We saw our waitress 3 times during the whole meal- once to take the order, once to ask if we needed anything else, & once to drop off the check. We were never even asked if we needed more water! We had to get up & find her just to ask for a straw & chopsticks. I guess that explains why the place was empty. There was another family that came in while we were eating & they left right away after seeing the prices. Even they said that the prices were outrageous! AVOID THIS PLACE! THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE & OVER PRICED & THE SERVICE IS EVEN WORSE!!!!

Do not go here

by frizzipunk

This chinese was not really good. As someone else stated, it is an awkward dining room with muzak. Servers were ok, but the food was just really sort of ick! I could have whipped up my own chinese better than this. About 5 minutes driving from here is Freshwok on Nicollet and 46th and i was headed there originally and then stopped at red pepper to try it out. I wish I hadnt!

Bland Food

by cccurran

This is my first review - I have eaten at many chinese places over the years and after the disappointing food here, I wanted to share my thoughts. The service was decent, but the food was NOT GOOD. My chicken lo mein was very bland with hardly any flavor, and my date's general tso's chicken was neither spicy (even I could eat it and I can't do the least bit of spice) nor tasty - he said it didn't taste like any general tso's he'd ever had. Also, prices were surprisingly high. We will definitely not be eating here again.

um., no thanks.

by Aimshin

The service was decent, the atmosphere friendly, But the food was awful.

Everything that you got that was fried tasted like fish, didnt matter if it was chicken or cheese puffs or shrimp toast, it was all fishy tasting (telling me they have not changed their oil in a long time, and that they are frying everything together) The fried rice was cold and horrible. AND the prices they show on the internet are NOT the prices on the menu, they have raised prices and they are high. There were two of us and we got a normal meal, with appetizers and drinks and spent $48. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. DONT GO THERE UNLESS YOU LIKE EVERYTHING TO TASTE LIKE OILY FISH!!

Horrible Experience

by mneater

I picked up take out during last weekend's snow storm. They sent me home with the wrong order - and when I phoned to try to get a refund, the manager refused to provide one unless I brought the food back. No other solution was offered to me. The last thing I wanted to do was go back out in the storm but, for me, it was the principle! I drove back, returned the food, was issued the refund, and got stuck in the snow on my return home. The only other vehicles on the road were the plows -- and thank goodness one friendly driver took the time to stop and help me. The pizza I had ordered was delivered in the meantime and was waiting for me when I returned home. The manager was downright rude on the phone. She interrupted every time I spoke and basically blamed me for taking the order that was handed to me -- my fault for the mistake. This was the second consecutive time that they had messed up my take out order. I won't be going back!

Best Chinese food in the Twin Cities

by papercat

I have eaten Chinese food all around the Twin Cities, the east coast and Chinatown in San Francisco and the Red Pepper gets my vote every time. The shrimp fried rice is the best I have had as are the egg rolls. I have never had a disappointing dining experience at the Red Pepper whether I was eating in or getting take out. The only Chinese food that I have ever had that compares favorably to the food served at the Red Pepper was at a Chinese restaurant called The Peacock in Chinatown back in 1969.

  • Pros: Great food, friendly staff, quick service.
  • Cons: Not the fanciest place in town, but who needs fancy when the food is this good.

Richfield Chinese restaurant is a local lunch favorite.

by Contributor

In Short
The interior looks like the most generic hotel dining room, with Muzak and all. But the hordes of workers who flock there for lunch don't seem to mind. Like most Chinese restaurants, it has an enormous menu, with a separate page for house specials. This includes the Red Pepper beef: thin beef slices fast-fried into crunchy slivers. There are also family dinners for two or more people.
