Santorini reopened mid-November after a two week hiatus to move and fine-tune it's new location at 13000 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie (SW corner of Hwy 5 & Prairie Center Drive). The location has been home to three or four different restaurants in the past few years including Pickled Parrot and Canyon Grill. Nearly the entire staff made the move. The menu is familiar with some interesting additions (a wood fire oven adds several grilled items as well as wood oven pizza's). The Mediterranean standards are still there. Our party of four shared Flamed Saganaki and Calamari a la Romana for appetizers and a family sized Horiatiki salad (tomato, cucumber, feta cheese and olives in an olive oil dressing). Two ordered the Gyro dinner, one had seared Ahi Tuna, I had the Lamb Shank. All were magnificent although the Ahi was a little overdone. The wine list has been updated somewhat and the selection is more than adequate with some notable changes i.e. fewer Greek wines, more Sonoma and Alexander Valley. Parking is adequate and valet is available at night. There are several small to large rooms which could be utilized for private parties. In the Summer, the large outside deck looks as though it has it’s own bar and a great view of the lake across the street. At night, just look for all the blue and white lighted trees and signs.

Pros: Same Great Food, Many great additions.

Cons: Can't think of any.

Now with Santos moving to a new building in Eden Prairie we will miss them. As a businessman that visits Santorini every other month I am happy for the move.. I normally stay in EP and drive to SLP for dinner. I talked to one of my favorite waitress Monday night when I was there and even she was excited for the move. I think she was happy to have a building that didn't need a lot of updating. She said it was like starting a new job but knowing what to expect.. She told me that the kitchen staff is all coming with so I know that my South American steak will be as wonderful as is always is. After 9 years of traveling to Minneapolis I will still go to Santorini's to see all of my friends that I have made ( I hope they will be there) and I am very glad that the managment is keeping the wonderful staff that has been with the family for so many years Good luck on the move November 2.. I will see you in January

Pros: Great food Great service you have to know the staff..

Cons: bar gets busy

Just read a terrible review of Santorini and must say I have been to this restaurant many times and have always had great service/food. We usually go for their over the top brunch. Tonight was perfect start to finish. I strayed from the usual greek fanfare and ordered the south american steak. I was a little worried about ordering steak at a greek place. I LOVED it. It was cooked perfectly and came with a side sauce that I am going to hopefully try to reproduce at home. Our waitress was also very helpful while we were trying to decide what to order. Very nice night out. Thanks Santorini!!

I was excited I got to bring all my boys out to lunch. Then we sat down and this mean angry "because she is still working at 60 year old" devil lady introduced herself by throwing the menus at us. After about 20 minutes she came back for our orders. I ordered the greek salad without peppers and she snarled at me. Yes fangs in all, she snarled. My husband ordered a gyro and my dad ordered the salmon salad. My one and a half year old was with us and no one told us they had a kids menu or even gave us one. No big deal he ate my husband oven cooked french fries. Another twenty minutes passed and our food had arrived, it wasn't bad but wasn't good. I guess average but with a hefty 55 tab. At this time I asked for warm milk for my son, the demon woman again snarled WE DON'T NORMALLY HAVE MILK!! 1o minutes later she returned with a warm cup of milk, I swear she acted liked I was asking for her first born child, but I think she ate her first born child. The waitress if you would call her that never ask how are food was or anything. The whole time she acted like we were a inconvenience to her and her devil worshiping.

Pros: I did not have to cook it

Cons: service was terrible, rude, and unfriendly

Last Wednesday night, 3/26/2008, out for dinner with friends, we all had the most fantastic time at Santorinis! Wonderful server, great drinks and by far the best Sea Scallops with a cream lobster sauce. Our meals were definately made by a culinary chef. The atmosphere in the bar/lounge was wonderful too.

The quality of the food is inconsistent. Service is however consistently horrific. The wait staff is unenthusiastic at best and the management is down right rude and condescending. Save your hard earned money for another establishment who still believe they should work for your dining dollars.

Pros: You don't have to make the food yourself

Cons: Service, management

I've been to Santorini a few times now, and have to say I'm largely unimpressed. The food is 'okay' - I'd honestly prefer Dino's Gyros to this place. The last time I visited for lunch, a 60-70 year old woman was our server (seriously), and she wasn't personable at all. In fact, she made us to feel like a bit of an inconvenience to her. I asked for a dessert menu after lunch, and instead, this AARP-er had to heft a giant tray filled with a dozen disgusting-looking faux representations of their dessert selection. I decided to try the baklava, and by the texture, it tasted as though it had been made the day prior. Also, It was well after Christmas, but they appeared to still have Christmas-like decorations about the dining area, and cobwebs to boot!

Cons: Poor service, sub-par mediterranean fare

This is hands down my favorite restaurant! I have never had bad food here. The pasta bar is the best in town. It's not only great tasting, but it's HUGE! We always look forward to the leftovers the next day. A few people mention bad management or wait staff... It's true we have had a couple of bad waiters over the years, but we only see them once. The waiters/waitresses that have been there for a long time are wonderful! We always get seated right away and our drinks always are delivered quickly. I would reccommend always making reservations since they do fill up very quickly!

Pros: Food, Service

Cons: none

We attended Santorini last weekend. They were very busy but the waitstaff still greeted us with a smile! We had a cocktail and were promptly seated in the dining room. We started with the flaming cheese appetizer, Greek salad, and Avegolemono soup. Very, very good and filling. We ordered the Peasant Platter for our main course and were given so much food that we couldn't possibly eat it all. The food was delicious and I can't wait to go back! I highly recommend this restaurant! Splendid!!!

Pros: Delicious food and friendly waitstaff.

Cons: Busy bar.

I love Greek food and have been to many Greek restaurants in Twin Cities, but Santorini was definitely a disappointment. First of all, me and my partner were seated right next to the place where all waiters/cleaners were disposing of dirty dishes and leftovers (nothing better than loud clinging and scraping of plates to perk up your appetite). I guess the first glance at the menu should have alarmed me to the impending disaster: the special of the night was Filet Minon with mashed potatoes and Italian Salad. Sounds very greek to me, no? We were brought a basket of bread - white bread, instead of tarditional pita bread. We ordered some wine (please note, that there are 2 red and 2 white Greek wines on the menu of about 30 wines), and had to wait for about 20 minutes before getting it (it was 9.30 pm, and half of the tables were empty, which left me wondering to whihc store our waiter had to run to get the wine). It was not particularly delicious to discover several pieces of ice in my glass of red wine. Next we ordered appetizers and main dishes. Situation on the food menu was very similar to that on the wine menu - there were a couple of staple Greek dishes, but most of them were a mix of America (burgers) and Italian food (according to our waiter, pasta bar is the most frequently ordered dish in the restaurant - very Greek, no?). I can't complain much about food, although my shrimp with tomato and feta cheese were stone cold and drenched in olive oil (not Greek, btw) and my partner's lamb was overcooked. Next came dessert: we were brought in a plate with desserts whihc had an amazing variety of New York cheesecakes, chocolate cake, apple cobbler and baklava as the only Greek dessert (which ended up being stone cold when we ordered it). even ouzo shot in the end couldn't save it.. Summary: there is nothing Greek about this restaurant, the most Americanized ethnic restaurant I have been to (and freaking expensive). Perkins with a Greek twist and $100 bill!!!

Pros: Hmmm.....

Cons: Not Greek, expensive, way too suburban-feeling

Save Time

Santorini fills up quickly, so make reservations. (A free glass of ouzo in the lobby does make the wait more palatable, though.)
