One of the best restaurants around.

by waltfilson

The food is great and the service is fast and efficient. For those of us that remember the 50's it's a trip back in time and for those who wish they knew the fifties it provides them with a peek into that world. The best thing on the menu is the Bison Burer. It is jusicy and tasty (order it rare or medium rare). The malts are the best around and come in every flavor you could want. My favorite is the Mocha-Coffee. the prices are resonable for the portions you get. The nice thing about the 50's grill is that the portions are not oversized towhere you walk out feeling over stuffed.

My wife and I have been eating there since they opened and will continue to eat there, when we can find a seat.

  • Pros: Good food at a good value and kid freindly
  • Cons: Sometimes you have to wait, but the waiting area is fun and anything this good is worth waiting for

Bland burger joint

by tamiii

The only reason to go to the 50s Grill is for their delicious malts which comes in a multitude of flavors. However, the food is very cheaply made and quite expensive for the portions they come in. I ordered Grandma's Homemade Meatloaf along with a side of caeser salad the last time I went and was disappointed. The salad measures up to only about a cup and a half, and was very bland. The meatloaf was gray in color and was lukewarm. I would not return there ever again.

The Fifties live on here, where perky servers in poodle skirts handle rush-hour crowds.

In Short
The black-and-white checked floor, curvy retro furnishings and framed ads for cool cars (chrome! tail fins!) set the fundamental '50s theme. No haute cuisine here; just humble comfort foods--roast turkey with dressing, stuffed rotisserie chicken, meat loaf, pork chops, hot turkey sandwiches, steak-and-shrimp combos, and jumbo burgers on home-baked buns. Yummy extras include onion rings, old-fashioned malts and shakes (two dozen flavors), and cakes and pies from the restaurant's own bakery.

Food has gone downhill

by squdgee

The food used to be great. Fresh juicy burgers and buns, big portions. They must have changed vendors or something. The food isn't nearly as good as it used to be.

  • Pros: quick seeting
